COP27 journey: how Pirelli is adapting to more sustainable mobility behaviour

Pirelli’s first-ever product was a bicycle tire before the Milan-based manufacturer moved into auto and motorcycle products. We visited Pirelli, a client of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, to find out how the company – which is celebrating its 150-year anniversary – is adapting to build a greener future. Watch our video to hear from Head Sustainability Matteo Battaini on Pirelli’s decarbonisation and net zero plans, and how these goals are only possible with public-private collaboration. We also spoke with Head Micromobility Solutions Francesco Bruno, who explains that Pirelli’s local e-bike programme called “Cycle Around” reflects changing mobility technology and societal preferences. Bruno also talks about the importance of insurers adapting to behavioural changes in transport.

Milan was our first of four stops on our journey to COP27, the climate change summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from 6 -18 Nov. 2022. Swiss Re attended the conference to strengthen our collaboration with clients and partners in the transition to reaching net zero by 2050. Our journey from Zurich to Sharm el-Sheikh took us to Milan, Genoa, Naples and Cairo, where we met with clients and partners to learn about their sustainability efforts. Learn more:
