So this piece of โ€œnewsโ€ has massive inaccuracies and very questionable sources. I own a Tesla Model Y and pay $1,200 year with NJM. Have no idea where these inflated numbers come from. Let me share with you an actual ownership experience of living with a Tesla Model Y for 3 years. I charge at home every night and leave every morning with 280 miles on my car so never any range anxiety. I live in New Jersey, US and regularly drive to Boston, MA and my Tesla automatically maps out when and where I need to stop to charge at a Tesla Supercharger so I never run out of charge. I pay 1/3 the cost of gas when compared to driving my Audi Q5. My family travel to Florida annually from NJ and the trip is seamlessly done, stopping to charge at Supercharger throughout the trip and taking 15-20 breaks to stretch our legs and bio breaks itโ€™s actually very convenient. After 3 years of ownership of my Tesla Y the only maintenance has been tire rotation every 10k miles. I also donโ€™t drive like a speed demon which is easy to do with a Tesla. Yes, they are very fast. This has been the easiest , least expensive, most reliable car Iโ€™ve ever owned. I also own 2 other cars an Audi Q5 and a Lexus GS350. Both older now but great cars, however, when the time comes to replace them I think it will be another Tesla. Tesla truly are great cars to drive and own, especially if you have the ability to charge at home.

Who pays 7,400. A YEAR for car insurance?
I pay $90. a month For TWO Vehicles!

  5. @Coachteach on January 31, 2025 at 3:15 pm

I’m paying ~2k $Australian for a 2024 model Y. It was harder to find, but Tesla works with them directly. It’s nothing like the video. They literally couldn’t find any Tesla owner that would say anything bad about the car ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

EV use Fossil fuel to produce everyhings. So how clean is EV car?

Who would want to purchase something associated with the far right?

  8. @P-Bizzy on January 31, 2025 at 3:22 pm

Biased comparison on the insurance costs shown. Iโ€™m no Tesla fan but it was clear that a Model X is not the right car to compare to a Ford Escape, Dirt bag reporting imho. Compare the model 3 to the Camry. Compare the Model Y to a Highlander. Compare the Model X to a BMw SUV.
Be honest and stop the obvious hit piece on a Tesla.

  9. @ThayneB on January 31, 2025 at 3:23 pm

You pay how much for insurance in Nevada? At least 5X what I pay for my electric car (not a Tesla). This was a totally biased piece against electric cars and apparently Tesla since it was name checked so many times. But hey at least you’re warning all those unsuspecting would be electric car buyers so they can rethink…

  10. @Saa42808 on January 31, 2025 at 3:23 pm

would you believe your car or an insurance dude?????

  11. @landshass2849 on January 31, 2025 at 3:23 pm

So just give us an EV without the bells and whistles. I don’t need flush door handles. I don’t need a 360 camera. I don’t need all these things that cost too much and giving too little.

  12. @js-wq6zy on January 31, 2025 at 3:24 pm

Compare the costs to a same price Cadillac not a Reliable Camry.

Full coverage on my equinox EV is $50 a month

  15. @jopoveromo1054 on January 31, 2025 at 3:28 pm

Electric cars are worse for the environment than gas cars I would argue that any day of the week.

  16. @Mr-Kind-au on January 31, 2025 at 3:30 pm

It actually pays to drive a lighter car, as it needs less energy to move, thus lowering emissions.
Electric cars on the other hand are heavy things because of the battery weight.
So no, I don’t believe that they are the future.

  17. @SawyerQuinn on January 31, 2025 at 3:30 pm

What the hell did I just watch, hahahaha! First off, if you’re fine with the cost of your insurance, why do you give a shit what it costs to fix it? It’s a non factor if you’ve budgeted for the insurance premiums. Second, I have a 2010 Land Rover with a V8 that gets 12 miles per gallon and the insurance is more for that than my Equinox EV. It’s pretty easy to figure out which is cheaper to run. They want to talk about hidden costs, guess which one has more hidden costs. It isn’t the electric one.

  23. @ricardoamendoeira3800 on January 31, 2025 at 3:40 pm

How is insurance so expensive in the US? In Portugal I was quoted from 500 to 800 Eur (way less than 1000USD) per year for full coverage and a 500 Eur deductible, for a ~30k USD EV.

  24. @JoshVeal-s2z on January 31, 2025 at 3:40 pm

    Drivers are oil billoinaires

  25. @Nikkomyyt on January 31, 2025 at 3:40 pm

I think the savings from gas can offset the cost of insurance and repair with plus points of having less carbon footprint. Looking forward to own an EV!

  26. @gatoleblanc8432 on January 31, 2025 at 3:41 pm

Mining lithium is a water guzzling extreme toxic pollution metal for the planets ocean and waters, it is way cheaper to mine toxic lithium than it is to recyle it and it is very difficult to recycle, this is why 99% is not, the pollution it causes to the planets ocean is not sustainable, its like a nuclear chernobl to the planets ocean every year, due to the heavy toxins and pollution in mining lithium, when a lithium car is still in the company assembly line it has already polluted more than a hydrogen fuel cell car that has been on the road for more than 125000 miles, the secret about hydrogen fuel cell cars is that each car actually cleans the air as it runs due to it`s clean watered electrolysis when released onto the atmosphere, hydrogen fuel cell cars have become remarkable cars with the new technology, fuel cell cars are the future not toxic lithium cars! we all have to start the switch!

  27. @jamessmyth5949 on January 31, 2025 at 3:44 pm

EVs are great for people who have money to burn. They’re not at all the save the environment, cheap to run and own, mode of transport that lots of propaganda spinners would have everyone believe.

  28. @KidFromPaombong on January 31, 2025 at 3:44 pm

After watching this. Mr Karl Cook of Cook Insurance Group definitely PAID for this segment. Comparing Model X to Ford Escape is like comparing Apple to Orange. They are not the same.

  29. @ASmith-hb4ed on January 31, 2025 at 3:46 pm

Tesla has their own insurance that is a lower price than insuring most lower end cars.

  30. @allthecolors6900 on January 31, 2025 at 3:46 pm

Not even true. You have to change the motor oil out every 50,000 miles.
And there is coolant that needs to be changed and flushed out 50,000-75,000 miles depending on the model you have.
EVs still require brake oil and caliper grease.
The tires have to be for EVs only because apparently you dont get efficient run time with your EV on just regular tires that cost $45/$75 each
People buy these EVs and have no idea how expensive the maintenance can be..

Total BS. When I bought my 2018 Tesla Model 3. AAA wanted $4K a year for full coverage. Geico was cheaper, and Tesla was the cheapest overall at $1890 annually for the same coverage. Cook is full of crap.

  35. @aussieebayfashion on January 31, 2025 at 3:54 pm

Around $2k AUD here in Australia for $63k zeekr X, that’s included a under 25 driver on the policy.

  36. @JJxPrime on January 31, 2025 at 3:54 pm

this whole video was just fear mongering and they tried to lump in all the EVs in there lmaoo no honey TESLAS are the ones that suck not all of them.

    Bull crap video

  38. @SenorSammy on January 31, 2025 at 3:55 pm

Dump legacy insurance and go with Tesla insurance. Theyโ€™re disrupting the industry. It will be expensive the first couple of months, but if you maintain a stellar driving/safety score, the monthly premiums drop.

Fake news. I have a model y performance and with full coverage on a juiced up policy at 26 years old pay less than $2k a year. Also, comparing a model x to a ford escape literally makes 0 sense.

  42. @Aging2day on January 31, 2025 at 3:58 pm

    Thanks president Biden!

  43. @tcampS40 on January 31, 2025 at 3:58 pm

This is horrible reporting. While an EV may cost more than a ICE car, you cant compare an $80k Model X to a $30-40K escape. My Model Y was a bit more than expected, but moving from a MB CLA to a Genesis GV60 lowered my insurance! Maybe the real story is Tesla has higher insurance.
